Lions hope to give MYMY late Christmas present at pub quiz.

On Friday 20th February at 9.00pm in the Harbour Inn, the Lions will host a pub quiz in aid of MYMY. Lion President Beth is appealing for good support for the quiz as MYMY do a fantastic job. The mission statement of MYMY is "to value and accept everyone by providing supportive services and opportunities to build positive mental health and wellbeing in our community "
Last week the Newcastle Lions made of, £500.00 to helping homeless. Some of this donation went to helping those who use the services of the Welcome Centre for Homeless in Belfast. Staff from the Welcome Centre are part of an Assertive Outreach Team who are out 20 hours each day from 7.00am until 3am next day in Belfast and Derry /Londonderry. helping homeless people distributing ,tea, coffee, clothing and sleeping bags to help service users stay warm. Accommodation is also provided, in an Female Crisis centre and for a second group a two-year supportive living in Katherine House. The group also provides floating support to homeless people who now have long term accommodation.
The public donation at Christmas to the Lions has help provide sleeping bags ,of which fifty are distributed each week to help homeless people. The same donation also helped provide a Mobile Health Unit (medical van) which is staffed by NHS nurses from 8am-5pm offering medical treatment to those who need it. Lion President Beth would like to thank the public for their support at Christmas in making it possible to help to provide a wonderful service to help people
