Daisy Dander a great success for Newcastle Lions Club

On  Saturday  Newcastle  Lions  Club held  their  annual  Daisy dander along the Newcastle  Promenade.  This  year  the  club  were assisted by  a large number of sixth  form students from Shimna College. Lion  President Beth  Cairnduff  extended a  massive  thank  you to the students  for  all  their  help. The  walkers were waved off by Sara  Mc Garvey, who spoke about  her  battle  with facial cancer and  the help  she had received  from  Daisy  Lodge, so  much so that she now champions the  work of the cancer Fund For Children. The promenade was  decorated  with crafted knitted and crocheted daisies provided by Creative Village Dundrum. The day was enjoyed  by  numerous children, availing of face painting and balloon modelling, provided by Emma and Deborah. The Lions would also like to thank CHP Engineering Dundrum for their donation and sponsorship from Joanne and John Smith, thanks also to Amy Leneghan first aider with Raymond Shannon REC. Thank you also to NMDDC and all the support of the local community. Each year Newcastle  Lions like all Lion Clubs in  Ireland highlight childhood cancer, during the month of September, by  raising  funds  for charities that offer support for young people and families impacted by a cancer diagnosis.
